Women On Waves Surf Contest (W.O.W.) is an amateur longboard surfing event that highlights the talent and athleticism of local women in the Santa Cruz County community. It is a fundraising event that promotes women's participation, of all ages, in the sport of surfing. Women On Waves Surf Contest is organized by a group of volunteers from the community that feel very passionate about giving back and celebrating women's presence in the water. Saturday, Sept 14 - Sunday, Sept 15 in Capitola Village, CA Free Admission! A fun weekend for the whole family! The Capitola Art & Wine Festival combines Art, Wine, Music, and Food in charming Capitola Village overlooking the beautiful Monterey Bay. Over 160 fine artists and more than 22 Santa Cruz Mountain wineries will participate in this year’s Festival. Enjoy great entertainment all weekend, including local dance and performing arts groups, street performers, and live music. There will be a kids' art and music zone, free parking and shuttle at Captiola Mall on 41st Ave. Concerts by The Lost Boys feauring James Durbin (Saturday from 5-7pm Extra Large (Sunday from 3-4:30pm). Ventana will be there with our complete pop-up shop of handcrafted wooden surfboards, bodysurfing handplanes, eco apparel, and sustainable surf supplies! |

Thursday, August 1 from 5:30p-8p at Shop Surf An evening of lightning-style talks on sustainability and justice, youth ocean access, and representation in environmental education. In collaboration with Ventana and Shop Surf, the panel of speakers will include Santa Cruz City Councilmember Dr. Justin Cummings, Program Director of UCSC's Doris Duke Conservation Scholars; Sara Lozano, Marketing Manager of Watsonville's Sambrailo Packaging; and Claudia Pineda Tibbs, bilingual and bicultural ocean educator and sustainability expert. We will learn from these leaders about how to support a more inclusive environmental community, an issue of great importance to O'Neill Sea Odyssey as the majority of the youth we serve do not have access to vital coastal and ocean experiences. The program will culminate in a robust group discussion. Many thanks to our generous food and beverage donors, Woodstock's Pizza and Discretion Brewery (please try to remember to BYO mug to reduce waste!). While the evening is free to attend and all are encouraged to join, donations graciously accepted at the event will support O'Neill Sea Odyssey's bus transportation scholarships. |

Pleasure Point Street Fair 2019 Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 11a-5p We'll have a huge Ventana booth at the 7th Annual Pleasure Point Street Fair Features bands, food, a kids’ zone, and a beer & wine garden – a benefit for Live Oak Education Foundation. Pleasure Point will be the focal point for local entertainment as people take to the street to enjoy the seventh annual Pleasure Point Street Fair on Saturday, June 22, 2019. The event will be held on Portola Drive between 41st and 38th Avenues, Santa Cruz, from 11am-5pm with bike parking available, and admission is free. We'll be donating 10% of Ventana sales at the event to support the outstanding work of the Whale Engagement Team (WET)®...saving whales one at a time.

Saturday, April 27, 2019 Ales for Whales is hosted by Humble Sea Brewing Co. (820 Swift Street, Santa Cruz). The event provides scholarships for young marine scientists to attend the California Ocean Alliance Marine Mammal Scientist in Training Program this summer. With the help of ticket sales and donations, COA will be able to raise enough money to provide scholarships for half of the students attending the education program. Ventana will be at this event with a host of other local artisans. We will have our complete pop-up shop of handcrafted wooden surfboards, fins, bodysurfing handplanes, eco apparel, and sustainable surf supplies! We are all donating 20% of profits to this terrific cause! |

David Dennis, co-founder of Ventana, will be presenting at this event at 9:15 am in a lively, 75-minute, interactive session entitled, Social Media Marketing in Your Underwear: Leveraging social media and events to jump-start your small business while doing good for the community. David will be using real-world examples of the good, the bad, and the ugly of social media marketing, branding, and small business promotion. You'll learn how to organize and market events that increase your bottom line while amplifying your message through collaboration with other local small business ... all while giving back to the community in meaningful ways. The session will be interactive, so bring examples of where you need assistance, and David will attempt to provide it in a way that will help all attendees learn, as well.
The 82% Micro Business Summit is Santa Cruz County’s largest small business event. This year it will take place on Friday, May 4 when up to 300 local business owners will gather at Cabrillo College to collaborate, share ideas, and learn how to grow their business from leading entrepreneurship experts. A project of the Santa Cruz County Office for Economic Development, the event features a range of speakers on topics including social media marketing, startup technologies, managing cash flow, working with millennials, lead generation, and more.
Participants will be able to choose from a range of dynamic speakers and breakout seminars, receive a complimentary breakfast and luncheon and have access to an afternoon mixer as well as fantastic raffle prizes. Registration is limited to 300 participants.
